Wednesday, March 20th, 2013New Motor Approval List
Sunday, March 10th, 2013Welcome to the new Motor Approval section of the forum. This is intended to replace the motor list that currently resides on the ROAR website. This new section adds to the existing list, a number of new motors are are approved based on their arrival date, as confirmed by shipper tracking data. Over time, the list on ROARRacing.com will be transferred to the forum list, which will eventually be the sole source of motor approval information.
In the forum you’ll find new motors that have been approved over the last month, with more detail than ever before, making the process more open and useful. You’ll find the date of approval, tracking data, inspection status, Availability Check status, and Executive Committee Approval status. You will also find detailed photos of the motor’s components, which will be used by the tech staff at ROAR National events for component verification, and are visible by the public for their own reference. The whole process is designed to be more open and informative, giving ROAR officials, Affiliated track owners, and ROAR members more data and a more open process of approval of the motors our members use in ROAR sanctioned racing endeavors. It’s our hope that this information will speed the tech process and give affiliated tracks and organizations the resources to more easily determine compliance, to keep the playing field (especially in the Spec classes) as level as possible.
Please let ROAR know if you have any suggestions to make this and other future product approval sections of the site more useful for their intended purposes. We hope you enjoy these new sections and find them useful in preparing for any one of the many prestigious ROAR National Championships and regional events.
The new motor approval section of the forums is visible to all website visitors HERE.

ROAR is looking for an experienced facility to host the 2014 IFMAR Electric On-Road Worlds
Thursday, February 21st, 2013In 2014 the IFMAR Electric On-Road Worlds are scheduled to come to the ROAR bloc, and ROAR is looking for a top-notch facility to host the event. A qualified host should have adequate “big race” experience and a facility that is appropriate as a venue to host the ultimate event in the category. If you think you have a facility that would be well suited to the task, please contact your regional director or one of the ROAR executive committee for more information.

Region 2 On-Road Carpet Championships
Tuesday, February 19th, 2013
The on-road carpet warriors took to the battlefield this weekend on Saturday February 9th, 2013 at the Middle River Hobbies indoor carpet racing facility, located on the banks of the Middle River just outside Baltimore, Maryland. Unlike the previous weekends off-road championships, the ride heights were slammed to ground for the touring car tuners. While the Ravens were crowned the NFL champions just weeks prior, racers from Region 2 were out to contend for their own titles of regional champions in anticipation as a prelude to upcoming ROAR Carpet National Championships on March 16th in Horsham, PA. Five classes were up for regional titles with an additional F-1 exhibition class out for bragging rights. Those classes up for regional titles include both 1/12th stock and super stock, 1/10th 17.5 touring car, WGT, and VTA.
The father and son duo of Michael Herald Jr and Michael Herald Sr would dominate the 1/12th super stock and stock classes respectively. WGT showed some of the tightest competition of the day, with the top four drivers exchanging the top spots through out the A-main and Perry Caswell finding his way to the podium in the number one position for the class. Mike Gee running the Awesomatix touring car easily held off the competitors sporting their Team X-ray and Team Associated entries in the field. The engineering of the Awesomatix touring car is far from conventional and really appears to be a mechanical work of art from it’s open gear box design to the hydraulic rotary shock absorbers. Be sure to check this one out at next months Nats. The final class of the day bringing the most entertainment and excitement to the field was the Vintage Trans-AM (VTA). The racers were thrown a left turn while lining up on the starting grid when the race director lined the cars up in reverse order facing the opposite direction. Yes, it was time to run the track in reverse direction. This proved to be a problem for many of the guys in the first few laps of the race. The reverse direction of the track proved to be challenging for all but the number four qualifier of Clayton Young. Young participated in four classes through out the event and placed on the podium in at least two them. His best driving skills appeared to be while driving in the reverse direction during the VTA class.
Transponders at ROAR National events
Tuesday, February 19th, 2013To all ROAR Members
As some of you may or may not know, MYLAPS is updating their decoder scoring systems. In doing so, the MRT transponders are not always picked up by the new system. However, the AMB/MYLAPS transponders will continue to operate properly. We are working with MYLAPS to provide as smooth of a transition as is possible. For the 2013 Carpet on-road nationals we will be using our current system which does not support the new native 3 wire RC4 transponder. My Laps will be sending us a very limited number of hybrid transponders for those people using the native RC4. This will be a loaner transponder and handed out on a first come first serve basis until the supply is exhausted. You will have to swap your Native RC4 Transponder for the Hybrid. You will receive your transponder back at the end of the event when you turn the loaner transponder back in. You may not modify the Loaner Transponder in any way. If unit becomes damaged you will have to pay for a replacement. We will be switching over to the new RC4 system starting with the The ROAR Electric Paved On-Road Nationals in May. This means by switching over to the new My Laps RC4 System, the MRT Brand transponders may not work properly. My Laps Transponders may be purchased at most Hobby Retailer’s or by going to there web site at http://www.mylaps.com/index.php/us_eng/Websites/B2C/rc/shop2
Please check with your local tracks to see if they have updated their systems
