285 Entries for the Fuel Off-Road Nats

After discussion with the host for the 2012 Fuel Off-Road Nationals, who strongly requested an increased number of entries, the entry limit will be extended to 285 total entries. The registration system will be turned back on at 7PM PST today, Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Those wishing to enter would be well advised to do so right away, and pay via PayPal FROM THE ROAR PAGE. Paying directly through the PayPal site will not automatically credit the registration to this event, and it will jeopardize your entry due to lack of payment. ONLY PAID ENTRIES will be considered. Unpaid entries will not be accepted.

ROAR non-timing ESC list updated

After considerable work by the Technical Director, Ron Schuur, ROAR has established testing parameters for ESCs that feature zero timing modes. The new procedures and equipment were used to precisely measure if any timing is provided electronically through the ESC. The list of approved ESCs that resulted from the first round of tests are now published on the approved brushless ESC list. ESCs that do not appear on the list have either failed to meet the proper standards as required for ROAR competition, or they have not been submitted for approval. ROAR finalizing driver list for Electric On-Road Worlds in Holland. Last chance!!!

ROAR is currently finalizing the team that will represent the US and Canada at the upcoming IFMAR Electric On-Road World Championship in Heemstede, Holland, scheduled for July 21 – 28. the list below are the only drivers that have qualified and/or indicated their intentions to attend. ROAR needs to finalize the list of drivers that will attend so we can free up the unused positions allocated for our bloc, to the host bloc. So, if you’re qualified or would like to “resume” into the race, please contact ROAR immediately before the unused spots are given back to IFMAR.

Silver Dollar Raceway in Chico, California chosen for 2013 IFMAR Electric Off-Road Worlds

By unanimous vote of the ROAR Executive Committee, the proposal selected for the 2013 IFMAR Electric Off-Road Worlds is from Silver Dollar Raceway in Chico, California, operated by A-Main Hobbies. In recognition of the time and effort that goes into preparing a proposal for such an event, ROAR would like to thank the other facilities that submitted proposals. The other facilities that were under consideration are top notch racing venues and the decision as to which to choose was difficult. The Silver Dollar Raceway will be a first class facility that will provide great competition and a high level of visibility trackside for local spectators and worldwide from broadcast media. ROAR looks forward with great anticipation to this landmark event, and congratulates Silver Dollar Raceway as the host.

ROAR 2012 Carpet On-Road Nats Announced

ROAR is happy to finally announce the 2012 Carpet On-Road Nationals to be held March 16th through the 18th, hosted by Mike’s Hobby Shop in Carrollton, TX. The announcement has come late for a variety of reasons, and for ROAR’s part, we apologize for the delay. Mike’s is a World Class facility that’s well known to top-level racers from around the country, and it’s sure to be an exciting, well-run, and competitive event. Listed below are the details of the dates and classes that will be run.

Date: March 16th – 18th

Schedule:

Thursday
Doors open at 10 am for pit set-up.
Pre-Tech open from 6-9 pm.
Track will be closed all day.

Friday
Doors open at 7. Racing begins at 8.
2 Practice rounds. Fastest 3 consecutive laps determine your seed/heat for qualifying.

As the year draws to a close, most groups have some sort of celebration to consider. While we are in the holiday spirit hopefully we will be more considerate and tolerant of others. This is also a time to consider those that do have the blessings that many of us have. In our area, one of the avenues open for us to help the less fortunate is the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign.

Bubba Barham along with Trackseekers R/C Car Club and Flowood R/C Racing Center held their 4th Annual Toys for Tots Invitational Race. Each year that this event has been held it has been better attended than the year before. This years event played to a packed house. Eleven classes were run. Yes, eleven classes. With this many events being held, there was no room for delays or errors and none were noted.

It was an honor for me to be invited to attend this event. It is always a pleasure to see racers that I have known for a long time. It is also great to meet new racers and traveling racers that I have not met before. At the drivers meeting, Bubba Barham greeted the crowd and gave the best speech about the importance of ROAR membership I have ever heard. When he introduced me and gave me the opportunity to speak there was not much to say about ROAR that Bubba had not already said. Of course, those of you that know me know that I can always find something to say. As usual, when I attend a Toys for Tots event, I always bring a “race fee”.

Riverside R/C Raceway in Petal Mississippi held their first Toys for Tots event this year. Although Riverside is a new racing facility, they proved that they were up to the challenge. They event was well attended, and the weather was perfect. The successes that Riverside R/C Raceway have experienced in their first year of operation leaves no doubt about their future successes.

It is always an honor for me to receive an invitation to attend a special event. Those that know me are aware that I do not crash a party, but when invited I make every effort to attend. As usual for me, I brought a “race fee” to this special event.
